State Government Affairs Overview
State Government Affairs performs a variety of important functions on behalf of Rutgers University. Our primary role, however, is to advocate on the University’s behalf and represent the University’s interests before the state legislature, the executive branch, and various other state government entities.
With offices in New Brunswick, Trenton, and Newark, State Government Affairs works to increase Rutgers’ prominence in the eyes of policymakers by positively influencing public policy that can greatly affect the University’s short- and long-term future.
Through strong relationships with elected officials and other important policymakers, State Government Affairs ensures that the breadth of Rutgers’ entire system is known to and accessible by those in the State Capitol and beyond.
As a top-30 public research university, a land-grant institution, and a member of the prestigious Association of American Universities, as well as of the Big Ten Academic Alliance, Rutgers is an increasingly important public citizen. State Government Affairs works every day to bring Rutgers’ viewpoints, experts and expertise, research, innovation, and goodwill to the benefit of New Jersey and the world.
